Shooter draws and fires two rounds at each target zone in an “X” pattern. Drill is repeated four times, starting with a different zone each time.
The X Drill is a USPSA training exercise designed to improve movement, target transitions, and accuracy while shooting on the move. The drill is set up with four targets arranged in an "X" pattern, with the shooter starting in the center. The shooter engages each target while moving diagonally from one side of the "X" to the other, focusing on smooth footwork and quick target transitions.
Typically, shooters will engage the targets with 1-2 shots while moving, alternating between engaging them on the move and from stationary positions. This drill helps build proficiency in shooting while moving, which is critical in USPSA matches. It also enhances the shooter’s ability to maintain accuracy while transitioning between targets, all while staying mobile and balanced.
