Select one target as the designated target. Shoot the designated target, then another target, then return to the designated target and re-engage. Continue until you have engaged all targets, ending with the designated target.
The "Designated Target Drill" is an excellent exercise for improving target transitions and maintaining focus under pressure. In this drill, the shooter selects one target as the "designated target" from a group of multiple targets. On the buzzer, the shooter engages the designated target first, then transitions to another target, before returning to re-engage the designated target. This sequence continues until all targets have been engaged, with the final shot being on the designated target. This drill helps refine your ability to smoothly transition between targets while keeping the designated target as the primary focus, a valuable skill for USPSA competitors.
